LONDON — Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has selected Spreadtrum Communications Inc. (Shanghai, China) to supply wireless baseband chipsets for use in mobile phones Spreadtrum has said.
Spreadtrum's QS520 GSM/GPRS and QS1001 EDGE transceivers have been designed into international mobile phone models and Spreadtrum has started shipping the QS520 and the QS1001 chips to Samsung in volume, the company said. The Spreadtrum QS520 GSM/GPRS and QS1001 EDGE chips feature integrated quad-band GSM/GPRS and EDGE radio frequency transceivers and temperature sensors.
